Today’s dehydrated thoughts

I was out today on a long run (I’m pick­ing up train­ing for the SF Half Marathon in late July). But it was hot… the ther­mo­stat was read­ing 90 degrees at 10 in the morn­ing.
It was a really bad idea.
But I think I finally real­ized what Psalm 63 means:

The race has been run and my kneecaps did not explode

What a feel­ing: cross­ing the fin­ish line at 26.2 under the Bay Bridge in incred­i­ble agony, a mas­sive sense of relief and food, glo­ri­ous food wait­ing for you on the other side.
What a feel­ing: run­ning in a huge sea of peo­ple, mak­ing con­ver­sa­tion with strangers, won­der­ing what their sto­ries are.

One day before the race

I’m feel­ing a mix of antic­i­pa­tion and excite­ment (“wow! a real marathon!” “wow! SF is cool!”) with a bit of fear as well (“will I make it to the fin­ish line with­out an explod­ing kneecap or total quad dom­i­na­tion??”) as race day approaches fast!
